The Jade Princess Improves Over Time

In the winter of 1989, two new fish packers joined the Hokkai Maine fleet, one in time for packing herring and the other for packing salmon. The Jade Princess at 55-feet and 76 tons was completed first and had a hauling capacity of 50 tons. The second boat was based on the same fiberglass hull as the Jade Princess mold, but was lengthened to 63 feet. The Jade Princess packed fish from Alaska and British Columbia, CA to Seattle and Vancouver, BC until 1998. From 1998 to 2000, the Jade Princess remained at a dock on the Fraser River, BC because of the depressed fishing business in British Columbia. The Jade Princess began a new life in the spring of 2000 when she was purchased by Colorado Yacht Ventures of British Columbia, BC, and the painstaking process of transforming her into a charter boat began. Transport Canada Marine Safety required the boat be retrofitted under very strict guidelines. Following many inspections and plan submittals, the boat was completely torn apart and rebuilt from the holding tanks to the addition of the upper deck. The entire boat was remodeled and Certified by Transport Canada Marine Safety in 2004.

The Guest Accommodations

The brand new guest area consists of 4 suites, double occupancy, with 8 foot ceilings and 12 inch portholes in each suite. Overhead skylights provide natural light in all guest areas and radiant floor heating keeps the accommodations cozy in the event of cool weather. Two ¾ bathrooms with radiant floor heat and an unlimited supply of hot water provide added convenience. Completing the lower level is a washer/dryer – added just for “The Guys” so they do not have to tie up the bathroom sinks washing their unmentionables.
